How it started...

I began this business because my perimenopause hit me hard in my early 40's. I was exhausted, had irregular periods and felt extremely low. After a decade working as a counsellor I thought it was just burn out. However it became clear my hormones were imbalanced so I began a journey of understanding hormonal health and studied to become a menopause wellness coach. I learnt a lot to help myself and now I want to share this with others. I feel like mid life was when I pivoted and woke up and realised what was and wasn't working. I stopped drinking alcohol, cleaned up my diet and changed my career. I couldn't carry on as I was, feeling terrible in my mind and body. Once I took control and studied the menopause wellness diploma and made adjustments to my life in terms of career, nutrition, lifestyle and supplementation, I have never felt better! Mid life can be an awakening not a decline, I was fed up of people thinking I was difficult and feeling like I was going mad. Oestrogen is needed all throughout the body and when it declines it can cause turmoil. My perimenopause became a positive turning point in my life to get rid of what wasn't working and move forward positively. I feel women are not seen or heard enough at this time of our life especially when we are going through this hormonal chaos. I believe in hormonal education, building empowerment and taking positive steps to improve our health. Goddess Rising was born out of this empowerment, I feel we reach a point in our life when we are ready to rise up and prioritise ourselves and speak out and advocate for what we need. My logo has two flowers representing my grandmas' who were both amazing goddesses who had to deal with a lot. My business is also a way of honouring them and harnessing their strengths, sensitivity, independence and feminine power.
My story
One of the biggest things other than nutrition that has helped my peri-menopause is being with my dog out in nature. This calms down my stress hormones and brings peace into my mind and body. I have never missed a morning walk with the lovely Leo! I do my best thinking on dog walks and it was this that enabled me to realise I needed to change my career. I am a wife and a busy mum of two lovely teenage girls who are the centre of my world. We grapple with neurodivergence (autism) and are learning a lot about this as a family. I have wondered if I may be neurodivergent which may explain why menopause has felt very hard, with heightened sensitivity to internal and external changes which is a trait of this wiring. I would like to incorporate an awareness of this into my work, since it can make dealing with and improving menopausal symptoms more difficult.

Education
After working as a counsellor I became really interested in 'food and mood' and how we generate most of our serotonin in our gut! Plus the gut brain axis being so important to our mental health. I studied with the College of Functional Wellness and learnt so much about how nutrition and lifestyle affects hormones and mental health at mid-life. My certificates are as follows: *Nutrition for health *Foundation coaching skills *Business and marketing *Anatomy & Physiology Level 3 *Diploma in Menopause Wellness I am also a full member of the FHT - "Federation of Holistic Therapists" and abide by its code of conduct and professional practice to ensure the safety and wellbeing of my clients. As a result of studying the menopause wellness diploma I have changed my health for the better and since then I have worked with women in mid-life to support their health in this way too with noticeable improvements to their wellbeing and peri/menopausal symptoms. Can't wait to work with you!

Previous Education
I spent 10 years of my career training and working as a psychodynamic counsellor in my own private practice, for the NHS, the Police, Employee Assistance Programmes and for a variety of charities. I was awarded the following qualifications by The Counselling Foundation: *Foundation certificate in Psychodynamic Counselling *Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling *Advanced Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling I have worked with people from all walks of life, diverse backgrounds, variety of mental health challenges (from mild to severe) and a variety of different ages. But later in my career I was always left wondering if I could have done more especially for my mid-life ladies. As a result of my own peri-menopause too, I then pivoted my approach from counselling to menopause wellness coaching. My background in counselling means I offer you a safe confidential space to be heard, I am very empathic and tuned in to you so I can support you effectively with your health goals! By learning more about hormonal balancing, nutrition, lifestyle and supplementation - working more holistically was the way forward and far more effective for us mid-life women as hormones impact the mind and the body interchangeably! So a holistic approach addresses all levels of impact of hormonal imbalances. Get in touch if this resonates!
